Recently, during a vacation to Sedona, Arizona, my friends and I decided to take a day trip to the Grand Canyon because it was only about two hours away. The Grand Canyon has never been at the top of my list of places to visit because honestly, isn’t it just a big hole in the ground? However, I always knew I’d get there eventually and figured this would be a great opportunity to check it off the list even if I wasn’t convinced I’d be all that impressed.
Jeff White was the only one in our group who had ever been there before, so after a week of me asking him what the big deal was, he decided it would be fun to film my reaction to it. Just to be clear, I’m not a complete idiot, I understood that the Grand Canyon was going to be big, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that when I saw it, I was going to have the same reaction I have when people go on and on about how amazing a particular pizza place is and then you get there, and you’re like “Yeah it’s good, but dude, it’s just pizza. Like, chill out.”
I made sure to keep my eyes closed the whole way up to the ledge, which was pretty nerve-wracking considering Jeff never got me back for the time I pretended I left our tickets to The Matrix Reloaded at home and he threw a category four tantrum at the theater in front of an entire lobby full of waiting movie-goers. Anyway, here it is:
Well now I just feel like a dick. But at least the Grand Canyon can finally breathe a sigh of relief knowing that I have given it my stamp of approval. Seriously, though, I’m probably not the first person to say this, but the Grand Canyon is nuts! For all of you cynics out there, it is definitely better than a trip to Grimaldi’s. Only at Grimaldi’s you probably won’t be in jeopardy of toppling to your death, whilst perched on a rock six hundred feet above a canyon floor, like I was in this video where I’m trying to get the perfect photo. I’m absolutely terrified and can’t wait to get back on stable ground, so naturally this is where Jeff decides to conduct a follow-up interview.
We got this awesome picture though!
So I’m going to give the Grand Canyon my official endorsement, which I’m sure will now be printed on all promotional materials related to tourism in the area. You can quote me on this:
